| TIGERSUSHI REVIEW |
| Real musicians playing sampled-like music, this could be a definition of Discern/Define
which sometimes sounds like new DJ Shadow tracks, without his sample-psychedelia.
Actually, that's not a mere coincidence as these poets's live recordings have
been reworked and edited by the Quannum crew (Shadow + Lyrics Born). Still, even
if some pieces have got a real groove ("Fondle Rock", the psychedelic "Moira"),
the overall result is not as enthusing as previous Quannum material. The fact
is that all the tracks sound quite similar and stick to an old - but good - tradition
of instrumental funk (think of 60's/70's library music) without adding much to
it making the LP unable to withstand the "Survival" for the "Freshest" rule. |
