| TIGERSUSHI REVIEW |
| Grand Popo Football Club is the brainchild of Parisian ?ber-dandy Ariel
Wizman and producer Nicolas
Errera. Their debut LP Shampoo Victims is a parody of electronic musicians
in each of their notorious filthy habits -i.e.sampling Giorgio Moroder records,
using instrumental slapped bass or vocoders- as GPFC elavortates their bemusing
counterparts on each track of the LP. The idea of unveiling the hype could have
been a good concept but Grand Popo's effort is just too convincing : horrendous
"collages", ludicrously clumsy arabo-andalusian influences and nightmarish arrangements
will make you wanna stop listening to the stuff nearly instantly. Only escape
is to agree on today's poor state of music, leave Grand Popo alone and listen
to some Miles Davis
instead. Why suffer for the sake of good [bad] taste? |
